Now Hiring a Youth Minister
We are looking for a new Youth Minister. Apply by emailing your resume to Adam Matthews at arm08a@acu.edu
Youth Minister Position
Tamarack Road Church of Christ and Altus, OK
Located in Altus, Oklahoma, TRCC was founded first as Park Lane Church of Christ (1956), then as Thomas Street Church of Christ (1964) to accommodate our larger membership. Following a fire in 2005, the congregation again relocated and changed names to fit the location. TRCC is currently served by Preaching Minister Adam Matthews, who joined in 2021, and Family Life Ministers Jesse and Lori Stovall, members who transitioned to that new ministry role in December of 2022.
Altus, Oklahoma
Located in Southwest Oklahoma, Altus has a population of 18,000 and is home to the Altus Air Force Base and Western Oklahoma State College. Altus Air Force Base is home to the 97th Mobility Wing and is the first stop for many Airmen to receive training after boot camp. Western is a community college of 1500 students offering Associates degrees and certificate trainings and competes in the NJCAA, most notably in baseball.
Nearby features include the Quartz Mountain State Parks, Quartz Mountain Christian Camp, and the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Altus is a 45 minute drive from Lawton, OK, and about 3 hours from OKC and DFW.
Area school systems which our members have attended include Altus, Blair, and Navajo Public Schools.
Our Current Ministry
TRCC meets regularly on Sundays and Wednesdays, has monthly men’s and women’s gatherings, as well as an active Youth Group with weekly activities. TRCC runs a food room that participates with the Oklahoma Food Bank to provide monthly groceries to our neighbors. As members of the Jackson County Ministerial Alliance, TRCC participates and contributes to: annual events like National Day of Prayer and the Community Thanksgiving Service; JCMA organizations Operation CARE, which serves our impoverished neighbors, and the Nehemiah Initiative, which repairs homes for residents unable to afford repairs, and the JCMA Adopt a Campus program, in which members serve as weekly volunteers during lunch service at the Altus Early Childhood Center.
Recently TRCC has been given a large donation with the charge to grow the Church. Thus far we’ve contributed to missions both foreign and domestic, including the creation of our Family Life Ministry positions.
